The Green Lady

Well it's been a while since I last blogged, doesn't life get in the way sometimes?

After having a search on a certain social media site I stumbled upon a new group named Junk Journals Junkies and Mindful Art and as they offer a weekly challenge I thought I'd have a go. So here's my creation for their current Challenge which wast set with the parameters of using the three colours Tan, Olive Green and Burnt Orange and the theme was Nature. So here's what I've done

Household Filler

Skrim Tape

Various Woodland & Hedgerow Die cuts

Pinflair Buff its in Gold & Red

Cosmic Shimmer Glue

Archival Black Ink

Paper Clay elements

Step 1

Firstly I primed my canvas using a broad sweeping motion using the Tan paint and a touch of the green paint, once dried I mixed some of the household filler with some Indigo Blu Lusciuos Powder Penny Dreadful until it was mixed and creamy and pasted through some Skrim tape which I stuck temporarily to the canvas. Once dried I placed the mask onto the canvas and using white gesso painted the face element.

Step 2

Whilst drying I cut some leaf shapes out using an electronic cutting machine using old book pages, which I then painted with some watered down Olive Green paint and also some Burnt Orange ones too!

Step 3

Now using the Olive green paint I overpainted the face shape blending in with the white gesso, making the centre of the face slightly lighter than the edges. Now I painted the paper clay elements using the same green paint and set aside for them to dry. Once the face was completely dry using an archival (or any waterproof ink pad) I stamped the eyes nose and lips to the face and layer various elements to visualise the correct spacing

Step 4

Now comes the assembly moment using the dried painted leaves and the cosmic shimmer glue I placed onto the face and stuck into place curling the pieces as I went, sometimes it may be useful to place pieces take a picture then glue if you are unsure of your placement of pieces , whilst these dried I cut some black card and printed paper using various dies to make acorns and leaves and coloured them using a blend of the two Buff it's and added these to the corners of the canvas.

So so here's the finished piece
